Boarding and Grooming

All boarders must have a reservation. All pets are to be dropped off for their boarding reservation between the hours of 8AM-5PM. An after-hours fee may be applied for check-ins after 5PM. Please call as early as possible. All reservations will be listed as “pending” until all vaccinations are deemed current. If you find that your pet must stay with us longer than scheduled, please notify us as soon as you can. Reservations longer than two weeks are not accepted.

In accordance with Prince George’s County Code, Section 3-185.01, no person shall own, keep or harbor a Pit Bull Terrier within the County. Pit Bull Terriers Breeds are defined as: American Pit Bull Terrier, American Staffordshire Terrier, and Staffordshire Bull Terrier. We are unable to board, groom and train these breeds at our facility.

Reservations scheduled over all federally observed holidays require a $25 deposit per pet. Owners will receive a full refund if they cancel their reservation within 72-hours of their check-in date. Owners that give less than a 72-hour notice will not receive their deposit refund.

We do not accept new pets during the summer season and holidays. We do not accept new pets over the age of 10, as boarding in a new environment can be very stressful when they reach this age. We recommend these pets to be boarded with their veterinarian if possible.

All pets must be current on their vaccinations. We will not accept pets that are partially vaccinated, all pets must be fully boosted. All vaccination records must be submitted and approved before the check-in date. We will not accept pets that have vaccinations expiring during their boarding stay. We do not accept any ill or uninoculated pets, as well as pregnant pets.

We require that all dogs be vaccinated against:
-Distemper, Hepatitis, Adenovirus, Leptospirosis and Parainfluenza, and Parvo
-Bordetella (Canine Cough)
-Rabies
-Canine Influenza (H3N2/H3N8)

We require that cats be vaccinated against:
-Distemper, Rhinotracheitis, Calici and Chlamydia
-Rabies

The number of days of board is calculated as follows; The day of arrival is a day of board. Checkout time is noon on the day of departure. Pets picked up after 12 noon will be charged another day of board. No boarding is charged on the day of departure if your pet is being groomed that day. If the owner does not pick up on the scheduled day of departure and their pet was groomed, both boarding and grooming services will be charged for that day.

Intact males have a chance of experiencing chaffed testes during boarding. Owner will be notified if we notice irritation.

Any pet requiring medical attention will be taken to the veterinarian. The charge is $50 for the first pet and $30 each additional pet. For every hour an Anchors technician is at the vet with your pet, a $15 rate will be charged. Anchors Kennel will transport all pets requiring medical attention to Waldorf Emergency Care located at 3485 Rockefeller Ct. Waldorf, MD 20602. Phone number: 301 -705-9700. Any charges from the vet will be added to the owner’s final bill. If your pet is aggressive and requires veterinary attention, we cannot promise transport depending on aggression level. The owner or the emergency contact on contract for the pet will be responsible for picking up the aggressive pet the same day.

We highly recommend (although not required) for all pets to be given monthly preventative medication against fleas, ticks and a variety of worms. We do not allow flea collars to stay on pets during their stay. Any pet found with fleas, ticks, lice or mites must be treated. The cost of treatment will be added to the final bill. If your pet is found with worms, the owner or their emergency contact will be responsible for picking up that pet on the same day. A pet with worms cannot be boarded and must be seen by a veterinarian. Absolutely no exceptions will be made. A surcharge for care may be added to the final bill.

We can serve your pets their regular diet from home assuming you bring it along with instructions. Otherwise, the kennel diet served is a lamb and rice kibble mixed with a warm chicken meat gravy. The AM feeding is included with the pets daily boarding rate additional feedings are $3. We can feed up to 3 times a day- no more. Please inform us of any food allergies. If your pet requires any form of medication such as vitamins, antibiotics, eye or ear drops, etc., there will be an additional fee of $5 for administration per day. For diabetic pets, Insulin shots are $10 for the day’s administration. Please provide specific instructions with your pet’s medications on the day of arrival.

We offer add-on services for you to enhance your pets’ stay with us, like playtimes, afternoon walks and cuddle time. These services range from $5- $12 per session.

We will make every effort to make sure your pet is in a comfortable, clean, and healthy environment. If it becomes necessary to bathe your pet or trim their nails, we will do so and add the appropriate charges to your bill.

We ask that all collars and leashes be removed from your pet before admittance. We cannot assume responsibility for any collars, leashes or personal belongings left behind or lost during the stay.

All charges are due upon checkout. No refunds. There will be a $35 charge for all returned checks.

Pets will be admitted and discharged only during office hours.

CLOSED on SUNDAYS, WEDNESDAYS (offseason) and ALL FEDERALLY OBSERVED HOLIDAYS OFFICE HOURS 8AM- 6PM
Admitting or discharging your pet outside of our office hours can be arranged normally (by appointment) for an after-hour charge of $70 for the first pet and $30 for each additional pet. 7AM- 7PM are the earliest and latest after-hours check-in and check-out times. All after-hours checkouts will be charged for that day of board plus after-hours fee, regardless of time of pickup.
