Pet Grooming Policies

Anchors Kennel employs a conscientious and caring staff to provide total care for your pet in a healthy, happy environment. Because we care about your pet’s safety and well-being, we want to assure you every effort will be made to make your pet’s visit as pleasant as possible. There will always be an AKC S.A.F.E. certified grooming technician present. Please inform the groomer of any health issues your pet has, as this impacts the methods used for this appointment.

All pets are to be dropped off for their grooming appointment between the hours of 8AM-10AM. Call us after 1PM to be quoted for a pickup time.

An up-to-date Rabies vaccination is required to perform the grooming procedure. All vaccination records must be submitted and approved 24 hours before the grooming appointment scheduled date. The Bordetella vaccination is recommended. The groomer will not accept any ill or uninoculated pets, as well as any pet that is pregnant.

Any pet that has open sores, embedded nails, etc. will not be allowed in our grooming room. These cases require veterinary attention.

Any pet found infected with parasites (fleas, ticks, lice & mites) must be treated. The cost of treatment will be added to the final bill. Any pet found with worms must be picked up immediately by the owner and taken to the veterinarian for treatment.

Appropriate charges will be applied for any pet that requires extra comb-out time, dematting or coat removal. If we find the comfortability and safety of the pet requires a second holder for a significant period during their grooming, a second holder charge will be applied.

If we find the pet is excessively difficult, the grooming appointment will stop, and the owner will be notified. If the groomer and owner are comfortable in continuing the appointment, a difficult dog charge may be applied.

Our grooming facility uses force dryers and cage dryers. Please inform our staff if your pet cannot be groomed with this equipment.

Occasionally, grooming can expose a medical problem or aggravate a current one. This can occur during or after grooming. If your pet is too stressed to safely continue the groom, all procedures will stop, and you will be notified immediately. Anchors Kennel will not be responsible for accidents or injury during the grooming procedure.

If a trip to the veterinarian becomes necessary, the charge is $50 for the first pet and $30 for each additional pet. For every hour an Anchors technician is at the vet with your pet, a $15 rate will be charged. Anchors Kennel will transport all pets requiring medical attention to Waldorf Emergency Care located at 3485 Rockefeller Ct. Waldorf, MD 20602. Phone number: 301-705-9700. Any charges from the vet will be added to the owner’s final bill.

We ask that all collars and leashes be removed from your pet before admittance. We cannot assume responsibility for any collars, leashes or personal belongings left behind or lost during the stay.

All charges are due upon check out. A $35 charge applies for all returned checks.

If the owner does not pick up by 6PM, Anchors will call the owner’s phone number on file. If the owner does not pick up their pet from the grooming appointment and is boarded overnight, applicable charges will be added
to the owners’ bill. Owner has 10 days after the recorded checkout date to make payment. If payment is not received, Anchors will send a certified letter to the home address on file. If we do not receive a response from the owner with full payment the pets will become property of Anchors Kennel. No further notice will be given. If Anchors must hire a collection agency or attorney to recover said payments, the owner of the pet agrees to pay all collection costs and legal fees.

CANCELLATIONS/LATE ARRIVALS
Cancellations with more than 48 hours’ notice shall face no penalty. Repeated cancellations with less than 48 hours’ notice may be subject to a fee of $25, due before your next groom may be booked. Additionally, partial deposits may potentially be required for future appointments. If you are running late for your appointment, please notify us as soon as possible. Arrivals more than 15 minutes past your appointment time may result in a denial of services, as we might not have time to complete the groom in the allotted time slot anymore. We understand there may be emergency situations and we will work with you, but we reserve the right to refuse service to clients with a history of last minute/ same day cancellations and/or no-call/no shows.

NO CALL/NO SHOWS
Any client who fails to show up to their appointment without notifying us in advance, will be considered a no-call/ no show. Any client more than 20 minutes late will be considered a no-call/no show. At first offense, a no-call/ no show may be subject to a fee totaling 50% of the projected groom cost, 75% at second offense, due immediately and in full, before any new services may be booked. All pre-saved future grooming reservations will be cancelled after a second offense. A third offense results in termination of grooming services for that pets’ assigned owners.

When you pick your pet up, please examine them carefully. If there is a problem or you have any questions, please let us know. If you are not pleased with the grooming services performed, you can bring back your pet within a week of the original appointment for us to fix what you are not pleased with at no charge. We will be happy to help you in any way we can. We always try to give you and your pet the best service. We genuinely appreciate any comments or suggestions you might have to help us serve you better.
